The German occupation of Zara is one of the most fascinating collections in the field; the crisp, well-impressed typographic overprint gives rise to several very attractive and enjoyable varieties to search for. There are IV types of overprint for Ordinary Mail + the V type for War Propaganda, well described in the Sassone catalogue. It has been possible to accurately compile the sheet-position statistics for all varieties and combinations thanks to the examination of the complete sheets of most values.
The second issue contains far fewer varieties and is therefore normally collected only as the "type" series.
We know these overprints very well, as we own the complete sheets of the less rare values; therefore we guarantee they are ALL absolutely original, and upon request we issue the SPC s.a.s. photographic certificate when not already present.
