The typographical error "BESETZUUG" is characteristic of the long-format stamps with a single overprint on the entire example (namely Air Mail L. 2 blue and L. 2 slate, and the two Express stamps). It was found in position no. 6 of the sheet of 50 examples.
The German occupation of Zara is one of the most exciting collections in the field; the clear, sharply printed typographic overprint gives rise to several very interesting and attractive varieties to look for. There are IV types of overprint for Regular Mail + the V type for War Propaganda, well described in the Sassone catalog. It has been possible to accurately establish the sheet-position statistics of all varieties and combinations thanks to the examination of complete sheets of most values.
The second issue contains many fewer varieties and is therefore normally collected only as the "type" series.
We know these overprints very well, since we possess the complete sheets of the less rare values; therefore we guarantee them ALL as absolutely original, and upon request we issue the SPC s.a.s. photographic certificate where not already present.
