The letter, ex Umberto Hess collection, paid the tax for the first Austrian distance to the border, and was taxed at the rate of 8 kreuzer on arrival, corresponding to 20 Sardinian-Italian cents. Since the office was recently liberated, taxation was indicated in Austro-Hungarian currency.
