The stamps of the Provisional Government of Romagna — with the exception of the 4 baj fulvo — are much rarer used than mint, as their validity was limited. Issued in September 1859, they were valid for postal use until 31 March 1860 for a total period of only six months! Their use was therefore rather limited, especially for the higher values; letters bearing the 6 baj, in postage are in fact extremely rare, those with the 20 baj are rare, and those with the 8 baj. are highly valued. The other values are less rare, although odd ones such as the 5 baj violet and the 3 baj dark green are always very interesting. Stamps with the bajocco and the 2 baj are not rare because they represented the normal domestic rates for adjacent post offices or for the same district, while the 4 baj was the ordinary rate for mail sent to almost all of Italy and was therefore the most used stamp of all. The 1/2 baj is also a rarity used on its own, less rare — though still valuable — when used in pairs for the 1 baj rate. Like all Provisional Governments, that of Romagna is also highly collected and sought after, especially from a postal-history standpoint, and over the years this has helped significantly increase the economic value of this area, for which demand has always been high and supply scarce.
