As is well known, in 1862 Francesco Matraire experimented with the new "comb perforator," creating the first perforated issue in the history of Italy, namely the "1862 perforated issue."
Obviously, on that occasion the complete sheets of the former 4th issue of Sardinia were perforated, so each "perforated" example has its counterpart in the 4th issue, allowing us to identify the correct color shade.
Below we therefore give a few numbers, indicating the matches between the numbering of the Kingdom perforated stamps and the imperforate stamps of the 4th issue.
